What you'll do :
Safely operate vacuum equipment and heavy trucks (manual transmission) in industrial settings.Oversee cargo handling, secure loads, and ensure proper use of equipment and safe work practices.Perform routine inspections before, during, and after trips to ensure roadworthiness and load security.Complete all required documentation including driver logs, manifests, bills of lading, and vehicle inspection reports.Maneuver vehicles into loading / unloading positions and verify that loading equipment is correctly positioned.Load and unload materials, ensuring debris is cleaned up and the site is left in safe condition.Comply with federal, state, and company regulations related to transportation, hours of service, safety, and environmental standards.Respond to after-hours calls and be available for weekend work and occasional short-term out-of-town travel.Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors to provide high-quality service.Train others as required and provide feedback to supervisors on customer or equipment issues.Participate in ongoing safety programs, including meetings, job hazard assessments, and near miss reporting.What's required :
Valid CDL A license with the ability to operate manual transmissions.1+ years of experience operating industrial vacuum trucks or tankers.Tanker Endorsement RequiredHazmat endorsements preferred; must be willing to obtain within 6 months.Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in both indoor and outdoor environments.Availability for weekend work, after-hour calls, and short-term travel with overnights.Clean driving record and ability to pass all required background checks and drug testing.Strong mechanical aptitude and basic vehicle maintenance skills.Ability to work independently and manage time and productivity efficiently.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High level of integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.Proficient in safety protocols, with valid or willing-to-obtain safety certifications (e.g., First Aid / CPR, CSTS, TDG, H2S Alive).Join us and become part of "Team Green" at GFL Environmental, where your skills and dedication will be valued and rewarded.
