Job / Department Summary

The Director of Philanthropy reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and is responsible for multi-year, major gift fund-raising efforts for the University. The primary responsibility is major gift fundraising including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies in support of major gifts of $25,000 or more. The position will handle a portfolio of approximately 150 donors and prospects. The Director of Philanthropy is expected to work in close collaboration with other Development Officers and with central advancement staff in Prospect Research, Scholarships, Planned Giving, and the Annual Fund, as well as with key university partners. This position is expected to secure $1 million in annual gift revenue for the University through a combination of cash, pledge commitments, gift-in-kind, and planned gifts.

Required Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

AND

A minimum of three years of experience in major gift and annual leadership gift fundraising for higher education or an equivalent.

Preferences

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills :

• Experience in campaign fund-raising or development, volunteer management, and / or prior employment at an institution of higher education.
• Chico State Alumni
• Local (as opposed to remote)

Time Base : Full-time

Pay Plan : 12 / 12

Work Schedule : Mon-Fri 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm, Summer : Mon-Thurs 7 : 00am-5 : 30pm

Anticipated Hiring Range : $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Salary commensurate with education and experience of the individual selected.
