Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Lactation RN Discipline : RN Start Date : ASAP Duration : Ongoing 24 hours per week Shift : 8 hours Employment Type : Staff Location : Medical Center-Prosper Department : NICU Shift : First Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours : 24 Summary : The Lactation Consultant is an RN responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and management of the breast-feeding mother-baby dyad. She is a coach, consultant, teacher and lactation expert. As a specialist they work collaboratively to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from normal newborn to the complex neonate. They will make clinical assessments and use current lactation theories and research to develop evidence-based feeding plans that address individual feeding issues while respecting the physician and family breastfeeding goals. Education : Graduate of an accredited nursing program. NICU nursing experience. Lactation Consultant will have a minimum of 10 continuing education hours / year of lactation focused education. Certification / Licensure : Current Texas RN License. IBCLC (International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants), Certified Breastfeeding Educator, or Certified Breastfeeding Counselor.
