Description :
The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
The registered nurse practices in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
This role is guided by professional practice models and evidence-based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values.
As a member of the patient services team, the individual will uphold the voice of the patient and system policies.
It is expected that RN Clinical Nurses in Emergency Services are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing.
They will implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.
Core responsibilities include :
Performing the Nursing Process : assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care.
Providing relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.
Partnering with the patient and significant others to ensure their goals are the focus of the plan of care.
Practicing using current clinical standards.
Teamwork and collaboration are essential :
Coordinating the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
Demonstrating teamwork by promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
Participating in performance improvement activities to promote safe, quality patient care.
Professional development is crucial :
Completing all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education.
Serving as a preceptor and / or mentor for other professional nurses and staff.
Commitment to evidence-based practice and research includes :
Promoting evidence-based practice and participating in decision-making processes related to patient care.
Upholding all policies and procedures from the organization and relevant professional associations.
Participating in data collection and addressing practice questions with appropriate resources.
Lastly, the RN will proactively plan for patient care and support the development of protocols and procedures.
They will ensure efficient use of human and material resources while providing direct patient care.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Compliance with all applicable policies and standards of work is mandatory.
