Position Summary

The Investment Team Member will join a small, collaborative team within the Foundation's Investment Office and serve as an integral contributor to the management of approximately $2.3 billion in assets across a diversified, multi-asset portfolio that supports the long-term success of the University of Massachusetts.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Team Member will work closely with colleagues to support all aspects of endowment management, including (i) monitoring existing investment managers, (ii) identifying and evaluating new opportunities, (iii) analyzing portfolio performance and risk data, and (iv) contributing to portfolio construction and research. The role offers broad exposure across asset classes and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Foundation's objective of generating superior, risk-adjusted returns for the endowment. Successful candidates will bring intellectual curiosity, proactivity, attention to detail, and strong collaboration skills, along with sound judgment and excellent analytical and communication abilities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of investment due diligence and manager monitoring, including participating in meetings and calls with existing and prospective managers, reviewing materials, conducting extensive reference checks, and performing quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
  • Analyze and synthesize data related to performance and exposures at the manager, asset class, and total portfolio level; communicate key findings to inform investment decisions and portfolio-level discussions.
  • Draft investment memos and recommendations, clearly documenting the diligence process and outlining key considerations for investment or redemption decisions; participate in internal discussions to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners(e.g., legal counsel)to support the lifecycle management of investments, including due diligence, legal documentation review, and related tasks.
  • Contribute to research projects and ad hoc initiatives on topics such as portfolio risk monitoring, benchmarking, commitment pacing, endowment spending policies, and other areas that advance the Investment Office's mission and support long-term portfolio construction.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Experience or familiarity with investment due diligence, manager evaluation, or portfolio analysis, ideally in a multi-asset class context
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

    Salary Plan

    Varies upon experience ($110,000-$250,000)
