Position Details :

  • Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Guitar Instructor to join our Music Department.
  • The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The Guitar Instructor will be responsible for teaching individual lessons to music majors and non-majors, preparing students for performances and auditions, planning and executing recitals and other performances, and contributing to the development of the music program Responsibilities :

  • This is an adjunct faculty position.
  • Responsibilities will include teaching one or more Music courses, developing appropriate course syllabi, and working with students as needed.

    • Provide individual lessons to students at different levels of proficiency Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students Minimum Qualifications :

  • Masters in Music, or a related field, with an emphasis in Guitar Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting Experience performing at a professional level Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of styles and techniques Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to inspire and motivate students Commitment to student success and academic excellence Audition / Interview Interested candidates should submit the following : A cover letter detailing their teaching philosophy and relevant experience A current resume or CV Contact information for three professional references (Optional) Links to recent performances or recordings Unofficial transcripts for all degrees and related degree work Candidates will be interviewed via zoom, and finalists will be invited to perform a teaching demonstration.
