Complex Claims Consultant - Dental Healthcare

Join us as a Complex Claims Consultant in the Dental Healthcare division at CNA Insurance, where you will play a pivotal role in managing complex healthcare professional liability claims across multiple states.

We are looking for a professional with strong investigative skills, deep knowledge of medical malpractice and dental malpractice policies, and the ability to provide high-quality customer service while navigating complex legal and financial issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of highly complex healthcare professional liability claims, investigating coverage, liabilities, and damages.
  • Conduct detailed investigations, including discovery coordination and collaboration with defense counsel.
  • Determine coverage and set accurate reserves, authorizing disbursements within defined authority limits.
  • Lead claim resolution strategies, negotiate complex settlements, and manage litigation strategy.
  • Maintain compliance with state / local regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior claim professionals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; JD or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum six years of relevant experience in claim handling or medical malpractice litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of professional liability insurance, policy language, and claim practices (dental malpractice a plus).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn business-related software.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
  • Professional designations (e.g., CPCU) are a plus.
  • Compensation & Benefits

    In Chicago, New York, and California the average base pay range for this role is $113,000 – $160,000. In other jurisdictions the national base pay range is $72,000 – $141,000. Salary determinations are based on experience, skills, certifications and location.
