Additional Details

The patient ratio for ICU is 2 : 1 for all ICU status patients. If Med Surg status patients are in the unit, the ICU nurse often takes 4 : 1 if there are no current ICU status patients.

The patient population varies- but DKA, Cardiac, Sepsis, Surgical, and high risk of decline patients are often admitted to the ICU.
