IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team ! We are currently seeking a Construction Field Technician 1 in our Hardin, MT office. As a Construction Field Technician you will be responsible for performing routine tasks as directed by the Construction Manager. As a first level trainee work is checked by others in process and upon completion. The Construction Project Manager may assign the technician to a construction project to serve as a construction observer to make field measurements, documentation entries and read & interpret plans.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Basic field inspection, testing, and documentation
  • Duties may also include on site or laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and hot mix asphalt
  • Attend training to achieve various certifications
  • Operate company vehicles
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles
  • Observe safety and security procedures

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both fractions and tenths
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must always maintain professional conduct
  • Valid driver's license required with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier
  • Advanced / Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 100% with occasional overnight stays
  • Education and Experience

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred
  • Prior experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship
  • Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
