Overview
Be part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the launch team for a greenfield facility manufacturing for the aerospace, space, and defense industries. This full-time, on-site role evolves from facility setup and equipment installation into ongoing operations and technical troubleshooting. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician with strong skills in maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical systems that support high-precision metal manufacturing.
This position requires deep knowledge of industrial power systems, control panels, PLCs, robotic cells, and automated furnace systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both low- and high-voltage systems, a solid understanding of electrical schematics and controls, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with engineering, production, and equipment vendors.
Key Responsibilities Commissioning Phase Build & Installation Support
Support the electrical setup of all production and support equipment, including conduit runs, motor hookups, and control panel installations.
Assist OEM vendors and internal engineers during power-up, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and automation systems.
Ensure all wiring, connections, and terminations meet NEC, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Operational Phase Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems powering furnaces, compressors, grinders, robotic welders, and other metals processing equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair AC / DC motors, motor starters, drives (VFDs), sensors, limit switches, safety interlocks, and PLC-based control systems.
Diagnose faults in electrical circuits using multimeters, megohm testers, loop calibrators, and other diagnostic tools.
Respond rapidly to electrical breakdowns, minimizing production downtime through effective troubleshooting and root cause resolution.
Conduct load calculations and safely isolate systems for repair or upgrades.
Maintain and revise electrical schematics and equipment manuals as updates or changes are made in the field.
Calibrate instrumentation and control devices related to temperature, pressure, and voltage regulation-particularly those integrated into melting and alloy-processing equipment.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with the mechanical maintenance, production, and engineering teams to resolve cross-functional reliability challenges.
Participate in reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), 5S, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Assist in training team members on lockout / tagout (LOTO), arc flash safety, and electrical equipment care.
Provide input on new equipment specifications from an electrical reliability standpoint.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or electrical certification (e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician) strongly preferred.
Minimum of 3+ years of experience performing electrical maintenance in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.
Solid understanding of 480V 3-phase systems, panel wiring, and industrial power distribution.
Hands-on experience working with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI systems, and VFDs.
Competency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, ladder logic, and P&IDs.
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA safety standards, and arc flash safety protocols.
Experience supporting metal processing or furnace-based operations is a strong plus .
Welding or fabrication experience is highly desirable , especially for light repair work or equipment retrofitting.
Painting or coating systems experience is a plus , but not required .
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders or work in elevated positions.
Ability to work in hot, noisy, or confined environments with appropriate PPE.
Must be comfortable working in and around heavy machinery and electrical panels.
