Salary Range : $23.98 - $34.69 / Hour; $50,070 - $72,433 Annually

Job Description

Under limited supervision and in collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Representative at Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College ensures accurate administration of student financial aid programs. This includes managing student financial aid records, interpreting regulations, preparing statistical reports, and awarding financial aid such as grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Support students in completing financial aid applications and submitting required documentation. Ensure required corrections are submitted to the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Review application results to determine eligibility based on federal, state, and institutional standards. Communicate award details and advise students on accepting, reducing, or declining aid.
  • Serve as a primary resource for students with financial aid or college-related concerns. Offer technical expertise to Enrollment Services staff on escalated issues from advisors and counselors.
  • Deliver financial aid information to students, families, and the community through on-campus and off-campus outreach events.
  • Coordinate and administer the federal, state, and institution student work study programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs including grants, loans, and work study.
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of professional working experience in higher education (financial aid, advising, enrollment services, admissions, student accounts, or other higher education departments).
  • Customer Service skills sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate complex concepts and guidance to students. Ability to effectively communicate policies, procedures, and information in a positive, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Personal computing / technology skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to process and maintain data and manage multiple and diverse responsibilities.
  • Creative problem-solving skills in a fast-moving environment.
  • Preferred Qualification

  • Five years of experience working with Student Financial Aid programs.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience with financial software such as ISRS, COD, NSLDS, FSA Partner Connect
  • Knowledge of private data practices and FERPA
  • Physical Requirements

  • Maintain a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Travel to various locations for events or meetings.
  • Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

    Monday - Friday; 8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm

    Telework (Yes / No) : Yes, may be eligible to telework one day per week.
