Health Educator Consultant (HEC)
Health Educator Consultant is responsible for the completion and maintenance of Florida's Healthy Communities Workplan, coordinating with internal and external partners to ensure the work plan is implemented and reports are completed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure strategies from Florida's Healthy Communities Workplan are met by coordinating with internal and external partners.
- Work with partners to ensure workplan strategies are completed, implemented, and all reports are submitted on time.
- Coordinate health awareness activities, specifically Diabetes Awareness Month.
- Attend, coordinate, and lead community meetings and workshops that relate to meeting the needs of the Healthy Communities Workplan.
- Coordinate program activities with the Chronic Disease staff and other health department staff as needed.
- Promote the Health Department programs and refer community members as appropriate to other community resources offered locally.
- Develop and maintain marketing flyers, brochures, etc. on educational content and health messaging.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Public speaking and teaching skills.Lifestyle Coach with National Diabetes Prevention Program preferred.Knowledge of national, state, and global trends and strategies in health education and promotion.Assessment and program evaluation skills, methodology & statistical analysis experience.Coalition-building skills.IT skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Social marketing and grant writing experience preferred. Knowledge of the principles and practices of health promotion and public health education.Knowledge of the principles and practices of community-based health promotion planning.Ability to plan, develop and deliver health promotion and public health education services.Ability to develop audiovisual materials.Ability to collect and analyze data.Ability to prepare reports.Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Qualifications
Minimum :At least 1 year experience building and maintaining partnerships in the community.
At least 1 year experience coordinating with internal and external partners / customers.At least 1 year experience with community engagement, including community education classes and / or group presentations.Preferred :Lifestyle Coach with National Diabetes Prevention Program.
Experience creating marketing and health-related materials such as reports, brochures, flyers, etc.Experience facilitating and / or evaluating the GIFT program.Where You Will Work
