Docket Specialist
Position Overview
Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an experienced Docket Specialist to join our Cleveland office. This position will support our Business Litigation Group by managing and maintaining the firm’s litigation calendar and docketing system to ensure compliance with all court rules and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm docketing experience, preferably within a litigation practice, and possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to managing deadlines.
This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring one to two days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter, track, and monitor all critical dates, deadlines, and events for litigation matters in accordance with local, state, and federal court rules.
- Review and analyze court filings, correspondence, and orders to ensure accurate docket entries.
- Maintain and update the firm’s docketing database, verifying accuracy and completeness of data.
- Distribute daily and weekly docket reports to attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
- Research and interpret applicable procedural rules to confirm correct calculation of deadlines.
- Communicate regularly with attorneys and staff to ensure timely awareness of upcoming due dates.
- Support the development and maintenance of docketing procedures and best practices.
- Assist with training new users on docketing systems and processes as needed.
- Coordinate with IT and practice support teams to resolve docketing or software-related issues.
- Perform other administrative or litigation support duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of three years of docketing experience in al aw firm environment, preferably supporting litigation(experience in intellectual property docketing alone will not meet requirements).Strong knowledge of state, federal, and appellate court rules and procedures.Experience using docketing or calendaring systems such as CourtAlert are highly desirable.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of deadlines and data.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite(Outlook, Word, Excel) and PDF editing software.Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Working Conditions
Hybrid schedule : one to two days per week in the Cleveland office; remote work permitted the remaining days. While training for the first 90 days more in office time might be required.Standard office environment with regular computer and database use.Occasional extended hours may be required based on business needs or filing deadlines.What We Offer
