We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Youth Education Advocate to join our Family Campus Youth Services team to assist with a youth program that supports our commitment to enrich and enhance the lives of our children living on our campus. The Youth Education Advocate will assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive youth program at the Family Campus dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of children. This involves creating engaging activities, providing educational support, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring effective communication with participants and stakeholders / donors. Hours are generally 40 hours per week and will be set to best meet the needs of the children / youth. Flexible schedules are allowed when working in the evenings or on weekends.

Responsibilities include :

  • Conduct assessments to identify the unique educational requirements of each child.
  • Work closely with the Youth Services Coordinator to develop stimulating activities and plan enriching field trips.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement methods to motivate and build confidence in the youth.
  • Regularly monitor educational performance and partner with parents in advocating for children within the school system.
  • Foster effective communication with parents, encouraging their involvement in school meetings, and providing guidance on advocacy.
  • Assist parents in navigating the educational system and provide support in scheduling school meetings.
  • Work closely with schools to advocate for Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
  • Maintain an organized environment conducive to educational productivity and learning.
  • Schedule / coordinate tutoring sessions that will support review of class material with students to reinforce learning.
  • Coordinate various educational activities, including field trips, guest speakers, career days, and college planning sessions.
  • Employ effective strategies to redirect negative behaviors and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain open channels of communication with supervisors, co-workers, and service providers to address program needs effectively.
  • Ensure activities have the necessary personnel, funding, and materials for successful implementation.
  • Promote programs through personal invitations, marketing materials, and engagement with the community and grant committees.
  • Build meaningful relationships with the youth, providing mentorship and guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Department as it applies to gifts-in-kind and sharing client stories to aid the department with necessary information to share the impact of The Lords Place with our community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Family Services according to business needs.
  • The Youth Education Advocate is expected to practice the Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) :

  • Bachelors degree in social work, psychology or mental health counseling preferred.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in the social work field is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Florida drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a level 2 DCF background clearance.
  • Familiarity with local support groups and agencies that provide services preferred.
  • Requires excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including a working knowledge of Office 97 or higher required.
  • Requires the ability to operate business equipment used daily within the organization.
  • Requires ability to learn and use whatever documentation system appropriate to their program, including electronic databases to document case notes.
  • Requires completion of agency case management training within the first 90 days of employment.
  • The ability to conduct numerous and frequent client intake assessments, action plans and referrals which may require sitting for long periods of time.
  • May require lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Compensation details : 20-21 Hourly Wage
