Position Title : Project Manager

Location : Austin, TX (Onsite Only)

Clearance Requirements : None required

Position Status : Contract (1 year, likely to extend)

Pay Rate : Competitive, based on experience

Position Description :

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our public sector client's team in Austin, TX for a 1-year onsite contract (with strong potential to extend). The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

This role will lead complex projects across large organizations, requiring strong expertise in project planning, SDLC oversight, Agile methodologies, and stakeholder management . The successful candidate will demonstrate proven leadership, analytical problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

PMP certification is required (must be listed on the resume; proof may be requested). Scrum Master certification is a plus.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Plan, budget, and manage assigned projects, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, risks, issues, and contingency plans .
  • Oversee SDLC processes , ensuring business requirements translate into accurate technical specifications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors and stakeholders ; ensure consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Summarize and escalate issues, provide weekly status updates, and facilitate regular team meetings .
  • Drive projects in collaborative, fast-paced environments , maintaining focus on results.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges and devise effective solutions.

Required Skills / Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • PMP certification (required).
  • 10+ years of experience managing projects across large organizations , including planning, risk / issue management, and contingency planning.
  • 10+ years of experience overseeing SDLC artifact development and processes .
  • 10+ years of proven experience in stakeholder management, communication, and executive reporting .
  • 10+ years of experience in project issue escalation, status reporting, and leading team meetings .
  • 10+ years of analytical and problem-solving experience .
  • 8+ years of experience managing projects using Agile methodologies , including sprint-based delivery.
  • 8+ years of experience leading multi-million-dollar software and IT projects .
  • Preferred Skills :

  • 1+ year of experience implementing Agile methodologies within State of Texas agencies .
  • 1+ year of experience with healthcare or public health projects .
  • Scrum Master certification (preferred, in addition to PMP).
