Accounting Assistant Need

This nonprofit client is located in Bridgeport . They have a great culture with a solid tenured team. They're currently looking for an Accounting Assistant who can come in and hit the ground running.

ABOUT THE POSITION :

This need is for an Accounting Clerk professional that is looking to work full time, and is open to a temp to hire position. Core work hours for this group are 8 : 00-4 : 30PM with 30 minutes hour for lunch.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and reconcile various Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Provides support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Reconcile daily cash each morning with each stores bank and Dunbar deposits and POS system
  • Prepares weekly cash reports and distributes them to senior management
  • Receives and prepares all cash receipts and RDC deposits, other than Human Services A / R. Enters receipts into MIP with corresponding GL and AR entries.
  • Manage salvage receivables and billing, preparing invoices and cash receipts.
  • Compares Daily Store Reports with information polled from cash registers, makes corrections to polling data base as required, and prepares daily reports for management.
  • Posts store sales activity to general ledger on daily basis.
  • Disburses Petty Cash in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance or commensurate experience.
  • 1-3 years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to general ledger, A / P and A / R.
  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, and practices of general accounting; procedures, systems, and equipment relating to financial operations, including computerized accounting procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and complete assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work effectively and accurately under narrow time limitations, using time, equipment, and materials in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of computer, including accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets (preferably Microsoft Office).
