Job DescriptionThe Trial Attorney represents insureds and the Company in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and other litigated cases. This position prepares for and conducts hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.Key ResponsibilitiesContacts clients to discuss their case and answer any questionsReview new file assignments, all documentary evidence and approve initial pleadings, propounds discovery, and develop strategyInvestigate and pursue subrogation litigation, as appropriateConduct settlements / dispositive proceedings (e.g., mediations, arbitrations, etc.)Prepare and conduct court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.)Conduct depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documentsPrepares witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials including expert witnessesTry and / or arbitrate cases and prepares motions and summary documents in liminieKeep claim business partners updated on status (initial client contact, initial litigation plan, recurring contacts, strategy conferences, and pre-trial, etc.) Education4 year Bachelors Degree (Required)Juris Doctor (Required); Licensed, and in good standing, in the state of New YorkExperience1 or more years of experience (Preferred)Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job does not have supervisory duties.#JA-2
