Position Summary
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric consultation to the program staff and administrators as well as provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and relevant treatment planning to program clients in an adolescent residential setting. This position is an integral part of the clinical leadership of a multi-disciplinary team that provides client-centered, culturally competent care with the highest standard of quality possible.
This position is estimated to be 20 hours per week.
Requirements : Key Responsibilities
- Oversee psychiatric care of our adolescent residents to include psychiatric assessment, diagnostic evaluations, and medication management.
- Attend weekly treatment team meetings and other applicable staff meetings.
- Serve as liaison with staff, Director of Nursing, Clinical Director, and other treatment team members.
- Assess and screen adolescent patients by conducting psychiatric evaluations, including interviews, medical histories, physical exams, observations, and psychological testing.
- Develop a treatment plan, measure progress against the plan, and make adjustments as needed.
- Coordinate and communicate with case managers and other stakeholders about treatment and care.
- Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, therapists, nurses, etc. to assess and adjust treatment plans.
- Prescribe, dispense, and monitor psychotropic medications, taking into consideration FDA indications and warnings; documenting informed consent and clinical justification for polypharmacy, monitoring for compliance, effectiveness, safety, and side effects; and providing basic health monitoring and referral with coordination of care when indicated.
- Provides cross-coverage for other prescribers as needed.
- Responds to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
- Maintain productivity standards and units of service per program contract requirements.

Qualifications
Current and valid Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license.At least 2 years' experience working with an adolescent population.Nurse practitioner degree from an accredited nursing school.Must be licensed to practice medicine in California.Must not have lived outside of California in the past five (5) yearsCurrent approval by the Joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts.Compensation
$120.00-$130.00 per hour based on education and experience
