Job Title

This is a full-time position. Pay is $23.90 / hr.

Summary

Assist the Deputy Director of Ancillary Service Delivery in oversight of daily mobility and behavioral health transport (BHT) activities including oversight of daily operations, scheduling of associates, and ensuring excellent customer service.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily customer happiness.
  • Works with scheduling department on mobility and BHT associate schedules, obtaining coverage to meet planned staffing levels, and assuring that deployment / dispatching software is accurate and reflects available personnel.
  • Responsible for managing mobility and BHT operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting patient / customer expectations through adequate staffing, availability of vehicles, and provision of supplies and equipment.
  • Communicates resource needs, system capacity and in-bound transportation requests, with Mobility Deployment Coordinator / Life EMS Control Center personnel to ensure optimal on-time performance and overall demand to staffing level match.
  • Responsible for all activities that occur during their duty shift providing updates and information to the Deputy Director of Ancillary Service Delivery as needed.
  • Provides front-line mobility and BHT surge staffing and backfills open shifts, as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence of on duty personnel to all internal policies as well as all federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and regulations.
  • Participates in the associate performance review.
  • Assist with presenting disciplinary action to associates on performance related issues.
  • Assist in continuing positive relationships with government, industry, health care facilities, etc.
  • Provide on-going education to associates on their duty shift as needed.
  • Participates in the orientation of new associates.
  • Serves as a field training instructor to orient new associates to the mobility or BHT position.
  • Conducts orientation for new or existing associates to Life EMS "large vehicles" (small buses) including the setup, training and evaluation of associates on a "large vehicle" driving course.
  • Assists and supports the Education Coordinators and Health & Safety Coordinator in evaluating and measuring the quality of care being delivered by Life E.M.S. personnel and construct educational programs designed to strengthen identifiable areas of concern.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications / Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have state of Michigan Chauffeurs license and a good driving record.
  • Must pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of Employment.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports.
  • Must have a BLS CPR card.
  • Accurate, basic typing skills and computer operation knowledge.
  • Must demonstrate positive, respectful behavior in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Must be interviewed by a Life EMS designee.
  • Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The associates must also do the following :

    Drive using wrist motions to manipulate steering wheel frequently and rotating neck

    Lift and carry wheelchairs weighing 45 pounds

    Push, pull wheelchairs and lift during stair ascend / descend with 130 pound patient

    Pull van's wheelchair elevation platform

    Lift and transfer 130 pound patient from chair to wheelchair, buckle and unbuckle wheelchair to floor platform

    Ability to wear particulate respirator
