Unit Highlights :
AdventHealth Orlando's Surgical Progressive Care Unit is proud to provide skilled, specialized surgical care to wide array of general abdominal surgery, colorectal, surgical oncology patients in the immediate post-operative period.
This patient population ranges from patients recovering from Whipple's, Ivor Lewis esophagectomies, bowel resections secondary to life-threatening ischemic bowel, pelvic floor reconstructions, thyroidectomies, mastectomies, paraoesophageal hernia repairs with Nissen fundoplication's, and Le Fort jaw fracture repairs secondary to traumatic facial injuries.
The patient acuity on this surgical progressive care unit prepares new nurses to fine-tune their critical thinking skills. It helps nurses to build foundations to successfully transition to a higher level of care such as ICU or PACU.

We work with an amazing variety of surgeons, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, and Surgical Residents. Through their supportive presence and willingness to teach, our nursing practice is elevated on a daily basis leading to the best experience and outcomes for our patients while in our care. On our unit, you will learn how to manage Jackson-Pratt drains, urostomies, colostomies, wound vacs, and nasogastric / enteral feeding tubes.

The role you’ll contribute :
The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
