Working closely with project teams, Safety Managers implement protocols, conduct training programs, and monitor compliance with regulations and company policies. This role will be based on a construction project to provide field oversight and ensure safety for staff and craft employees, subcontractors, and consultants supporting the project.

This role will be based out of our Springfield, VA regional office. Projects and assignment can span across the DMV region.

Responsibilities

• Safety Planning and Implementation : Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to vertical commercial and federal facility projects. Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks.
• Training and Education : Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors. Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles. Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.
• Incident Management and Investigation : Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Regulatory Compliance : Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to building construction and all MEP scopes. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
• Safety Performance Monitoring : Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects. Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement. Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership.

Qualifications

Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on vertical and federal projects. Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity. Professional certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, EM385) preferred. CPR / First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA / MSHA instructor certifications are preferred. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Base Compensation : $139,000 / yr - $157,000 / yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and / or location)
