Safety Manager - Vertical Building
Safety Managers at Kiewit are integral in ensuring Nobody Gets Hurt. We hire people passionate about safety to implement our comprehensive safety program to reinforce our commitment. Working closely with project teams, Safety Managers implement protocols, conduct training programs, and monitor compliance with regulations and company policies. This role will be based on a construction project to provide field oversight and ensure safety for staff and craft employees, subcontractors, and consultants supporting the project.
This role will be based out of our Springfield, VA regional office. Projects and assignment can span across the DMV region.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on vertical and federal projects. Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity. Professional certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, EM385) preferred. CPR / First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA / MSHA instructor certifications are preferred. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
Base Compensation : $139,000 / yr - $157,000 / yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and / or location)
