AID is a growing yet established consulting firm located in central New Jersey, offering professional services in non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT / NDE) of highway infrastructure (bridges and pavements), pavement evaluation and design, geotechnical design and subsurface investigation, subsurface and utility mapping, and forensic studies. AID owns and operates an array of NDT equipment, including a Laser Crack Measurement System (LCMS), Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), various air-launched and ground- coupled Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) antennas, and many others such as a high-speed profiler and walking profilers. In addition, AID runs its own soils, asphalt, and concrete materials testing laboratory.
Job Description
The "Engineer" position will involve performing engineering tasks, in the field, office, and lab, under the supervision of senior engineers and managers. Your primary responsibilities will be to support and carry out non-destructive testing, evaluation, and reporting as it relates to transportation infrastructure. You will also be needed to assist in other areas of work, as needs dictate, especially assisting on Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). Based on your performance and the needs of the company, this position presents the potential for increased responsibility and growth within the firm.
This is a full-time position with full benefits for a qualified applicant. The candidate should have at least B.S.C.E. degree with knowledge of NDT technologies applied in civil engineering.
He / she should be familiar with NDT testing and analysis methods specifically in GPR (for Asphalt thickness measurement and Subsurface utility Engineering (SUE)). Knowledge in any of the other aspects of NDT such as Impact Echo (IE), Surface Analysis of Seismic Waves (SASW), pavement testing and evaluation, Infrared Thermography, Electrical Resistivity, Ultrasonic Testing, FWD, LCMS or others is also desirable. It is preferable that the candidate has some knowledge of geotechnical engineering and geophysical engineering. Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
The immediate responsibilities of the successful candidate may include but are not limited to the execution of NDT / NDE projects. These projects typically involve conducting site reconnaissance visits and performing NDT testing; evaluating the existing condition of pavements; locating subsurface utilities, analyzing conventional and NDT test data (e.g., analysis of GPR data, LCMS and back calculation of FWD data, etc.); preparing proposals and compiling cost estimates; invoices, as well as, preparing technically and grammatically sound project reports.
Salary : $83,000 to $96,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
