Dean of SSHOlympic Colleges Music program offers private individual instruction in a variety of instruments as well as for vocal. The Music program offers space for individualized instruction, as well as for students to practice and perform. Faculty provide lessons, where possible, utilizing distance learning through Zoom and / or Skype. Adjunct faculty are employed in the areas of brass instruments wind / reed instruments, guitar, bass guitar, strings, piano, and voice. As the college continues to expand our learning options for all, instruction will be provided through a variety of modalities, from Canvas, Zoom, Skype other appropriate online resources and through face-to-face instruction. Candidates should be comfortable with using these or related technology to adapt to their instruction.

Olympic College is recruiting an adjunct faculty member to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The position will be part-time Private Music adjunct faculty, teaching primarily private lessons on violin, viola, cello, or bass.Essential Functions

Hold regularly scheduled private lessons for students for the schedule span of time enrolled (1 / 2 credit =

hr / week; 1 credit = 1 hr / week)

Perform other related duties as assigned and / or required

Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services as appropriate, including use of the College-approved learning management system

Uphold Olympic College's values and ethics necessary to maintain a positive climate.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Experience in teaching or mentoring music students - specifically in area of desired instruction

Desired Qualifications Master Degree in area of instruction

Two year teaching experience of private lessons - at the audit level.

Ability to play and teach in both classical and jazz styles on upright bass, and ability to teach technique on violin, viola, and / or cello

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits.

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and / or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.

Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire; Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement. The list of benefits that may be available after is as follows.
