Mechanical Assembler

Location / Shift Options :

  • First Shift ($21 / hr) :

Monday-Friday and every other Saturday, 5 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM CST

Darien, WI

  • Second Shift ($21 / hr + $2 / hr shift differential = $23 / hr) :
  • Monday-Friday and every other Saturday, 4 : 00 PM - 2 : 30 AM CST

    Assembler Position Overview :

    The Assembler position with Medix is a 3-month contract-to-hire position with a large engine and generator manufacturer located in Darien, Wisconsin .

    In this role, you will be responsible for assembling large generators and enclosure systems that are used for backup power at places such as hospitals and data centers . There will be a 3-week training program that you will automatically be enrolled in starting your first day, where you will learn how to assemble the units from the ground up using hand and power tools .

    Work will require you to :

  • Climb on ladders
  • Use lifts
  • Work with insulation
  • Wear protective PPE (such as steel-toed boots ) at all times

  • What you will be doing :

  • Complete 4-week training program on generator / enclosure assembly process
  • ( full process from base to frame to roof and final assembly )

  • Work with hand and power tools : Drills, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
  • (All tools will be provided for you!)

  • Assemble power generator casings - both sub-assembly and final assembly
  • (alternators, brackets, flywheels, motor mounts, starters and harnesses)

  • After converting to a permanent employee (3 months), you will be eligible for continued training and growth into :
  • Advanced assembly
  • Electrical positions
  • Leadership roles
  • Lots of help and training provided - all tools are there for you and a team ready to help you succeed!
  • What we are looking for :

  • Ability to read a tape measurer
  • DISCLOSURE : You will be given a measuring assessment and have to read a ruler during your interview!
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • (drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, measuring tape, gauges) Either in a professional setting or at home. Be prepared to share some examples!
  • Comfortable climbing ladders
  • The generators are tall and require lifts and ladders for roof and high point assembly.
  • Comfortable working with insulation
  • Insulation can get itchy-gloves and long sleeves are recommended. The type used is less irritating, but be aware.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
  • It can be loud, hot in summer, and fast-paced. But also includes a great cafeteria, top facilities, tools, and a helpful team!
  • Own a pair of steel toe boots
  • Required to start. You'll get a stipend for new ones after converting to a full-time employee.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs regularly
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods
  • This is not an assembly line position-you will be moving and standing throughout your shift.
