The Staff Nurse will be responsible for working closely with the Neurologist to be the face of the clinic, maintaining relationships with multiple providers, informing referral patients on treatment, ensuring the coordination of clinical care plans, patient-focused assessments and triage, and directing Medical Assistants on clinical activities. The ideal candidate will have experience managing care coordination and patient navigation, including insurance prior authorizations, laboratory studies, and specialty pharmacy ordering. Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN), highly desired but not required. • Plus many more!\n\nPosition Summary : \n\nFunctions as a member of collaborative interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive care to patients and families with complex healthcare needs that may be both predictable and unpredictable. Aims to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.\n\nPosition Key Accountabilities : \n\n1. Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service / satisfaction.\n2. Adheres to broad scope of practice as established by Nurse Practice Act.\n3. Ensures the efficient operation of the clinic or unit by proper scheduling and planning for optimum use of staff and resources, maintenance of stock and supplies, and efficient and safe use of equipment.\n4. Uses systematic approach to provide nursing care to patients and families / populations by performing focused and comprehensive assessments through subjective and evidence based objective data.\n5. Prioritizes, synthesizes and documents assessments and nursing plan of care using critical thinking and judgment.\n6. Implements plan of care within scope of practice through assignment and monitoring of other nurses and delegation and monitoring of unlicensed staff.\n7. Initiates standing orders for prescription refills and labs as well as standing delegation orders where appropriate.\n8. Develops and implements teaching plans concerning maintenance, promotion and restoration of health. Evaluates patients' responses and outcomes to education and therapeutic interventions.\n9. Communicates effectively with collaborative team while escalating critical results and issues in an appropriate and timely manner.\n10. Exercises judgment while coordinating care and referring patients to agencies or health care professionals for other services / transitions in care where indicated.\n11. Performs onsite and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation to ensure patients receive the right level of care in the right setting at the right time by the right caregiver using the right equipment and supplies.\n12. Acts as a patient and healthcare advocate by maintaining a safe environment and promoting quality healthcare and services.\n13. Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.\n14. Adheres to standards of practice for professional nursing.\n15. Acts as a clinical and leadership resource for team members.\n16. Performs other duties as assigned.\n\nCertification / Skills : \n
• Uses typical office and clinic equipment.\n
• Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required\n
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred\n\nMinimum Education : \n\nBachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school with one year nursing experience; OR Associates degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school with three years nursing experience; OR Nursing Diploma (3 year program) and two years nursing experience.\n\nMinimum Experience : \n\nYears of experience varies based on education level.\n\nPhysical Requirements : \n\nExerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds frequently and / or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.\n\nSecurity Sensitive : \nThis position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
