This role provides an opportunity to be a change agent working toward closing the gap and removing barriers to thriving for communities and their families. Our program partners with community based non-profit organizations to identify underserved individuals who would benefit from a positive relationship that can give targeted social and emotional support as well as connection to resources.

Members will learn about and build partnerships with community resources to assist the community at large.

  • While serving, members receive a living allowance dispersed twice per month in addition to an education award at the end of successful service term.
  • Service terms are 8-10 months in duration. (starting October 2025)
  • Hours per week vary from 10 - 34 based on host location need and availability of member.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) is required for some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a before and after school program in Jim Thorpe (Carbon County, Pa).
  • Work with school age students by providing support with homework and Social, Emotional, Learning topics.
  • Provide resource information to families as needed (ie. food, clothing, medical, housing, etc).
  • Support program activities 1 : 1 or in small groups.
  • Collect data, track individual and family outcomes.
  • Attend trainings through UWGLV and host location.
  • Requirements

    Able to report in person for work in Lehigh, Northampton or Carbon counties.

    Able to secure clearances to work with vulnerable populations (Act 153).

    Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

    Have a HS diploma or G.E.D.

    18 years of age or older
