Electrical Engineering Specialist (Substation)

Overview

Electrical Engineering Specialist (Substation) for CDM Smith. Creates moderate to highly complex designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability / renewable energy systems, and related electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing system components, and refining rough sketches; incorporate changes and redlines on ongoing projects.
• Contribute to studies of power systems and electrical calculations, lighting simulations and layouts, and other related calculations (communications, fire alarm, security, etc.).
• Perform site reviews to ensure designs align with location specifications; update design requirements as necessary.
• Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge by developing white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs and studies.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs); review draft proposals for compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Engage with current and potential clients to review their design needs; participate in conferences to enhance visibility of the firm's products and services with applicable sales staff.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor staff for growth within the discipline and firm.
• Perform other duties as required.
