The Senior Database Administrator ensures that the company’s databases are sufficiently available, performant, secure, recoverable, and licensed. As a senior member of the IT team, this role also provides leadership in database architecture, process improvement, automation, and mentoring of junior team members.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Coordinate and manage database maintenance activities with scheduled maintenance windows, with minimal disruptionLead the design and implementation of database solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.Collaborate with development teams to optimize database schemas and queries for efficient data access and manipulation.Define and enforce database standards, best practices, and guidelines.Assist with the design, build, and review of database codeResponsible for the performance, integrity and security of our program databasesProactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, by conducting periodic health checks and performance assessmentsProduce and maintain written documentation for configurations, processes, and standardsProvide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAsEnsure licensing compliance and cost-effectivenessStay in tune with critical alerts and respond appropriatelyPerform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection and disaster recoverySafeguard data integrity and compliance by preventing unauthorized access, transmission, or modification of sensitive information. Ensure all database operations adhere to relevant regulatory and security standards.Requirements :
The Ideal Candidate will possess :
Analytical Thinking : Ability to assess current configurations and recommend improvements.Communication : Clear articulation of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Responsiveness : Willingness to respond to critical alerts, including after-hours support when necessary.Collaboration : Comfortable working with cross-functional teams on database-related initiatives.Required Qualifications :
Expertise in MS SQL Server : Including configuration, maintenance, and optimization.Proficiency in T-SQL : Ability to write and review stored procedures, views, functions, and queries.Experience with SSIS and SSRS : Designing, building, and maintaining packages and reports.Knowledge of CDC and Temporal Tables : Understanding of change tracking and historical data management.Database Availability Strategies : Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery configurations.Performance Tuning : Skills in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and resource management..Monitoring Tools : Experience with SQL Server monitoring solutions and alert systems.Backup and Recovery : Ability to manage backup strategies aligned with RTO / RPO targets.Maintenance Coordination : Ability to schedule and execute maintenance during approved windows.Licensing Compliance : Understanding of SQL Server licensing models and cost optimization.Security Awareness : Familiarity with database security strategies and compliance standards.Documentation Skills : Capable of producing clear, maintainable documentation for internal use and training.Requires advanced knowledge of all areas of database administration typically obtained through advanced education and hands-on experience.Must be a self-starter with initiative.Practical knowledge of project management.Willingness to learn new technologies and applications as required.Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights / weekends.Problem solving skills and analytical in nature.Excellent verbal and written communications skills.Desired Qualifications :
Experience in the insurance sector.Understanding of public cloud architecture as it relates to database deployments.Experience with containerized SQL Server configuration and deployment.Additional Info :
Our office is located at 7785 66th St. N, Pinellas Park, FL 33781 in the Richard and Evelyn Jerger Building. Typical work hours are 8 : 30-5 : 00pm Monday-Friday. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights / weekends as needed.

This position is in an office environment and would require :
