SUMMARY
The Fiber Communications CAD Technician is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining detailed technical drawings, plans, and documentation for fiber optic communication networks. This role supports engineers and managers by preparing accurate CAD designs that comply with industry standards, client requirements, and local regulations. The CAD Technician ensures that all design outputs are precise, efficient, and ready for construction and installation activities while also being compliant with National and local standards and practices.
POSITION SCHEDULE AND ONSITE REQUIREMENTS
This is a direct-hire, full-time, on-site position located in our Murfreesboro, TN, location. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, from 7 : 30 AM to 4 : 00 PM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.
Prepare and update CAD drawings, schematics, and layouts for fiber optic infrastructure, including conduit pathways, cable routes, manholes, handholes, splice enclosures, and termination points.Assist engineers in designing fiber networks, including backbone, distribution, and drop systems for both aerial and underground applications.Convert field survey notes, redlines, and as-built documentation into accurate CAD files.Ensure compliance with industry standards andcompany specifications in all design work.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to resolve design issues and provide technical support.Prepare permit drawings and construction documentation for submission to municipalities, utilities, and clients.Support the development of as-built records and maintain accurate system maps for ongoing operations and maintenance.Review and check drawings for accuracy, clarity, and completeness before release.Use CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar) and GIS platforms as needed for mapping and design tasks.WHAT YOU BRING
Required Qualifications
HS Diploma1+ year of experience in ARC GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other CAD software.Familiarity with fiber optic network design principles and telecommunications infrastructure is a plus.Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, utility maps, and construction documents.Good communication skills to collaborate with engineering and field staff.Strong Microsoft Office skills set.Works well in a fast-paced work environment.Flexible to changes in project scopes and daily tasks.Want to learn more about who we are, explore our core values, and discover additional career opportunities?
