Position Description

The Managing Director of Data Center Operations at TTUHSC leads the strategic and operational management of the university’s core IT infrastructure and services. They plan and direct the overall operation of a complex area / department and provide leadership for staff members. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment and professional skills. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and compliance of TTUHSC’s data center environment while fostering partnerships across schools and affiliated hospitals and is responsible for all employees assigned to the area. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader who embodies TTUHSC’s values and is committed to advancing health, research and education through service, innovation, and collaboration.

Major / Essential Functions

  • Directs Information Technology (IT) Data Center Operations.
  • Manages / oversees systems and operations personnel in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Work with the Institutional IT Security Team in ensuring the security of state-owned data and IT assets.
  • Manages creation and maintenance of policies and procedures for IT disaster recovery and Data Center operations.
  • Collaborates with TTU and TTUS data center, security, and network directors.
  • Works with AVP on data center budget and data center planning.
  • Manage IT Disaster Recovery efforts for institutional servers and the data operations center.
  • Originate Information Technology (IT) projects, manage IT Projects, establish and lead IT Project Teams and Function as IT Project Team members.

  • Experience in data center operations and server support.
  • Experience developing new data center policies, procedures and training materials to address changes in technologies and operational duties.

    Pay Statement

    Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https : / / app4.ttuhsc.edu / payplan .

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree required. Seven years progressively responsible management experience required. Education beyond bachelor's level may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
