Job Title : Project Engineer
Pay Range : $75,000 - $100,000 DOE
Reports to : Director of Project Management
Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of civil construction projects by assisting the Estimating Team, Project Manager, Superintendent, and field teams. The Project Engineer acts as a critical link between the office and the field, coordinating technical information, documentation, and communications.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager with ongoing changes, issues, and project needs throughout the job lifecycle.
- Communicate with Project Managers daily to ensure alignment on schedules, scope, and project challenges.
- Bridge the gap between estimating and course of construction by validating IFC (Issued for Construction) plans, quantities, and assumptions.
- Assist with preparing, tracking, and reconciling change orders and contract true-ups throughout the project.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify requirements and potential conflicts.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
Technical & Engineering Support
Manage GPS topos including pre-construction, progress, and as-built surveys.Compare GPS models (provided vs. actuals) to calculate and verify quantities.Proficiently use Magnet and Topcon Office software for GPS and model management.Compile drone data and process it into usable information for project tracking and verification.Maintain Part 107 Drone License and conduct UAV operations as required.Support layout, surveying, and quantity take-offs for materials.Ensure engineering solutions comply with project specifications and civil standards.Assist with take offs / measurements inside DWG filesCost & Documentation Management
Assist in preparing budgets, cost forecasts, and change order documentation.Support Project Managers with validating and processing contract true-ups based on IFC drawings and field conditions.Maintain project logs.Stakeholder Communication
Facilitate communication between owners, engineers, and subcontractors.Assist with progress meetings, preparing agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up action items.Provide timely updates on project status to project managers.Qualifications
13 years of experience in civil construction ( experience may be considered).Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and standards.Proficiency in Magnet / Topcon Office and construction management software (Procore, Acumatica, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar).FAA Part 107 Drone License (required or ability to obtain within 6 months).Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Willingness to travel up to 25% to various project locations.Performance Metrics (KPIs)
Accuracy and timeliness of GPS models, drone data, and as-built documentation.Responsiveness and clarity in daily communication with Project Managers.Accuracy and turnaround time on change orders and true-ups.Effectiveness in bridging estimating assumptions to actual construction conditions.Cost tracking accuracy and variance reporting.Contribution to project schedule adherence.Safety and quality compliance support.Effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.Works closely with : Superintendent, Foreman, Estimating Team, Subcontractors, and Field EngineersWhat We Offer
