Purpose and Scope

Under the supervision of the Principal, the human resources coordinator's customers are our internal employees. We want the staff and faculty to feel valued and appreciated and this position maintains records, communicates regularly with employees, and assists to keep them and NDP working effectively and efficiently.

Essential Job Functions

  • Administer the hiring process, from posting positions, talent pool management, managing the interview process, reference checks, and assistance with onboarding.
  • Assist in coordinating and implementing policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Assist in administering the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, benefits, leave, and disputes; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Work in conjunction with the Diocese employee insurance programs (e.g. medical, dental, vision, voluntary short / long term disability, workers compensation) for the purpose of ensuring open enrollment and disability / workers compensation claims are managed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Work with managers to monitor all employees on performance evaluations.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's HRIS or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with Diocese policies, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains employee records, Ministry and State certification and fingerprint records. These are in hard and soft copy.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Assist with preparing annual contracts for all administrators, teachers, and coaches.
  • Assist with processing and distributing payroll when the accountant is unavailable.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  • At least one year of human resource experience preferred.
  • Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Evaluation

    The performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures developed by the Diocese of Phoenix and Notre Dame Preparatory under the direction of the Principal.

    Terms of Employment

    Twelve-month full-time schedule. The Leadership Committee under the guidance of the Diocese of Phoenix establishes base salaries and stipends. A schedule of mandatory days and extra responsibilities is provided prior to the start of the new school year.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain CPR training or obtain within 180 days (about 6 months) of hire
  • Must hold or be able to obtain Fingerprint card or obtain within 180 days (about 6 months) of hire
  • Physically able to perform job duties in a safe manner
  • Some weekend and evening hours will be required
  • Must be willing to support Catholic teachings and philosophy
  • Completed Safe Environment Training prior to start date
  • Must sign the Diocesan Code of Conduct and have a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
