Overview
Associate Principal, Landscape Architect at AECOM in Northern California Urbanism + Planning studio. This leadership role focuses on high-performing landscapes tackling climate change, interconnectivity and mobility, smart growth, ecological systems, and natural resources. The studio designs a broad range of urban public realm projects including streetscapes, parks, ecological restoration, and green infrastructure. The position offers hybrid in-office / remote work in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Oakland).
The candidate will lead design processes, guide collaboration with colleagues, clients, and communities, and influence AECOM's design culture across the Northern California region.
Responsibilities
- Actively leading and managing projects from initiation through design and implementation with a focus on design and technical excellence, budget, and schedules.
- Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the Northern California Urbanism + Planning practice, including growing the landscape architecture and urban design studio to support local and regional projects.
- Acting as an ambassador to the communities, agencies, and organizations we work with and contributing to the visibility of AECOM's brand.
- Build client relationships, pre-position for opportunities, and secure a portfolio of work that aligns with growth objectives.
- Contribute to AECOM's think and act globally philosophy by creating a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Support and advance the professional growth of all team members by cultivating a challenging, inspiring, and collaborative studio culture.
- Collaborate with other studio leads regionally to support the regional Urbanism + Planning practice within AECOM.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Landscape Architecture degree (BLA / BSLA / MLA) from an LAAB accredited institution or demonstrated equivalency8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or educationLicensed Landscape Architect, preferably registered in CaliforniaDue to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is requiredPreferred Qualifications :
10+ years of professional Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Master Planning experience2+ years of applicable design leadership experienceProficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and at least one of the following 3D modeling / rendering platforms : Revit, Rhino, SketchUpExcellent interpersonal, graphic, verbal, and written communication skillsDeep knowledge of the Northern California marketplace and regional industry trendsProven experience delivering innovative waterfront, civic, and infrastructure improvement projectsAbility to integrate into landscape architecture and multi-disciplinary design teamsAbility to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and self-edit workExperience delivering technical drawings, specifications and reports; construction phase services and collaboration with clients, collaborators, and buildersExperience with RFP / RFQ processes for public agencies, institutions, organizations, and private entitiesLEED GA / AP, SITES AP, or ENV SP credentialsStrong computer skills with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil3D, Adobe Creative Suite, RhinoIndependent task management and systematic problem-solving abilitiesMinimum of 5 years of applicable design leadership experienceEvidence of involvement in civic-minded organizations or third-party recognition (ASLA, AIA, design awards, publications, presentations)Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and location. The anticipated salary range is $138,000 - $177,000.This role requires U.S. Citizenship; sponsorship is not available.About AECOM
