Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco Nexus platforms and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to support a federal government program. This role will focus on designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure in alignment with federal cybersecurity and operational standards.
The company is located in the D.C. Area and will remain 100% remote.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design, configure, and administer Cisco Nexus switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure secure, resilient network operations.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco ISE for NAC, authentication, and policy enforcement.
- Integrate Cisco solutions into federal Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and compliance frameworks.
- Perform network monitoring, performance optimization, and incident response for mission-critical environments.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and SOPs.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure adherence to NIST, FISMA, and DoD STIGs.
- Provide Tier II / III support for escalated issues across classified and unclassified systems.
- Support network migrations, upgrades, and modernization projects leveraging Cisco Nexus technologies.
Required Skills & Experience
Active U.S. Security Clearance (Secret or higher, per contract requirements).5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.Proven expertise with Cisco Nexus platforms (7K / 9K series).Strong proficiency in Cisco ISE deployment, policy development, and troubleshooting.Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), MPLS, and VLANs.Familiarity with network security, VPNs, firewalls, and IPS / IDS.Experience supporting federal government or DoD contractor environments.Desired Skills & Experience
Active Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or CCNP Security).Experience with Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) and automation tools (Python, Ansible).Knowledge of DISA STIGs, RMF, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.Prior experience supporting mission-critical DoD or federal networks.Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future.
