Maintenance Supervisor
Join our team as a Maintenance Supervisor! Plans, organizes and directs the custodial, grounds, maintenance, repair and renovations of County buildings and associated electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems. Coordinates with the Construction Supervisor to assure that newly constructed buildings are properly maintained.
Plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the maintenance staff, including skilled tradesworkers to maintain the interior and exterior of County buildings including building electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems. Formulates long-range maintenance programs. Prepares budgetary and cost estimates for all custodial, grounds, maintenance and repair for County buildings. Makes recommendations on specifications for capital expenditures, tools and equipment. Approves requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment and contractors and maintains records relating to the costs of special projects. Investigates and resolves problems pertaining to building maintenance issues. Prepares technical reports and tracks maintenance productivity. Oversees and evaluates subordinates in the performance of their duties. Determines the need for contracted services, reviews and approves specifications and coordinates contracted services through the Operations Supervisor. Performs related work as required.
Skillful at developing and implementing a long-range preventative maintenance program. Knowledge of County budget procedures. Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools, and materials used in building, custodial, and grounds maintenance. Knowledge of the occupational hazards associated with various trades work and the pertinent safety precautions. Knowledge of building systems and the materials commonly used in the maintenance of buildings. Ability to organize work schedules. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with associates and the general public. Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to write specifications for capital purchases and maintenance services. Strong oral and written communication skills. Skillful at organizing and implementing projects and procedures. Must be able to consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, courtesy and respect toward other departments, co-workers, management and the general public.
Physical skills : Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Education, training and experience : Graduation from high school or an acceptable equivalency diploma supplemented by technical training in building maintenance / trades work; and seven (7) years' of experience in facilities management, including three (3) years' in a supervisory capacity. Licenses, certifications or registrations : Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. A Class A or B Contractor's License in the State of Florida is preferred.
