Role Overview
Ironclad Defense Works (IDW) is seeking motivated Contract / Procurement Professionals to support NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, VA. This combined posting covers both traditional cradle-to-grave procurement support (Level II) and agile-focused contracting support (Innovation Lab). Together, these roles ensure that NATO’s acquisition processes meet both compliance standards and the demands of fast-paced innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Contract / Procurement Professional
- Support Contracting Officers through the full contract lifecycle : acquisition planning, SOW reviews, proposal evaluations, and documentation.
- Track and validate industry submissions and manage RFIs / Q&A processes.
- Execute purchases under €40K, seek quotes, and prepare purchase orders.
- Administer contracts (DBIDS, VISA letters, amendments) and maintain contract file management.
- Process invoices, close out contracts, and manage contractor databases
Contract Specialist (Agile)
Work with NATO Contracting, Budget, and Finance to identify acquisition solutions for innovation projects.Support ACT Innovation Lab through agile-aligned procurement processes.Draft and manage acquisition strategies, RFPs, SOWs, and evaluation criteria tailored to modular / agile contracts.Promote modern technologies and flexible acquisition while ensuring NATO compliance.Facilitate transparent vendor engagement and evaluation processesRequired Qualifications
University degree with business / management coursework, OR DAWIA certification in Contracting / Acquisition (or equivalent).Level II : Minimum 5 years’ procurement / contracting experience across pre-award, award, and post-award phasesAgile : Minimum 3 years’ experience in contracting / acquisition, preferably in innovation-focused or agile settingsStrong understanding of acquisition statutes, regulations, and NATO procurement rules.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaborative software.Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.Citizenship of a NATO member nation, valid NATO-nation passport.Active NATO or National SECRET (or higher) clearance.Desired Skills
Experience with NATO-specific procurement (e.g., NSIP, CIRIS, NATO Financial Systems).Familiarity with Agile Procurement (MVPs, sprints, prototypes).Prior contracting officer warrant authority is a plusApplication Instructions
