LHH has partnered with a prestigious nonprofit organization in Washington, DC to identify a detail-oriented and analytical Internal Auditor! This role is critical in evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and identifying opportunities for operational improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical audit expertise, business acumen, and communication skills to support risk management and governance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits across various departments.
Develop audit scopes, programs, and testing strategies based on risk assessments.
Analyze data and documentation to identify control weaknesses and process inefficiencies.
Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to senior management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and monitor progress.
Maintain compliance with IIA standards, GAAP, SOX, and COSO frameworks.
Utilize data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, ACL) to enhance audit effectiveness.
Support external audit coordination and regulatory reporting requirements.
Participate in organizational projects and provide consulting support on internal controls.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
CPA strongly preferred.
2+ years of experience in public accounting or internal audit.
Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (COSO, COBIT).
Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
