Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Communication Specialist. In this role, the Communications Specialist supports the Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care by building and maintaining relationships with internal partners in Development, Marketing and Communications, and with Sala and children’s hospital donors to execute ongoing Sala-related administrative priorities. This role requires strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. The Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing the Sala Institute external communications strategy, acting as the primary liaison between Sala Institute and communications, marketing, and development partners, supporting Sala Institute fundraising and promotional events, and disseminating Sala work and updates to various audiences (including children’s donors and the broader community of children’s hospital stakeholders). The role fosters collaborative relationships and works within a fast-paced, complex organizational structure, managing competing project dependencies and stakeholder relationships, and ensuring timely and effective communication with the team and key stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities Combine healthcare knowledge (ideally pediatric) with communication, marketing, and donor relations to develop and disseminate Sala Institute information to diverse audiences, including the general public, pediatric healthcare community, NYU Langone Health colleagues, and current and prospective donors.

Lead the development and execution of a strategy and implementation plan for disseminating Sala-related information across all modalities and audiences.

Support and manage ongoing Sala events, including professional events for pediatric healthcare leaders, donor stewardship events, and fundraising events in partnership with Development.

Collaborate with Sala team members and children’s hospital faculty to maintain knowledge of key initiatives, advances, and patient stories to inform communications.

Serve as a focal point of contact for Sala Relations.

Know when to act independently and when to seek input from others with broader experience.

Bring issues to resolution and escalate concerns to leadership and key constituents as needed.

Communicate effectively to drive cooperation across the organization through formal channels and informal networks.

Develop creative marketing, fundraising, and promotional ideas for Sala Institute.

Provide administrative support to the Director of the Sala Institute for development, marketing / communications, events, and large-scale efforts.

Relate well to all levels inside and outside the organization.

Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required under the Director of the Sala Institute.

Maintain a collaborative team culture, positive attitude, willingness to work at all levels, and commitment to the team.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in communications, marketing / promotional work, donor relations, and working in a healthcare setting; strong interpersonal relationship skills; action-oriented with experience managing aggressive deadlines; effective problem-solving skills; strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to target audiences; and the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Salary : The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $116,904.64 annually, with actual salaries determined by experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
