American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother / Baby (L&D / Postpartum) position in an acute care setting with Cerner experience and advanced maternal certifications required.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Mother / Baby, Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum units of an acute care hospitalUnits include 8 L&D beds (plus 6 overflow), 7 L&D triage beds, and 40 Postpartum / GYN bedsPatient population includes standard labor, high-risk pregnancies, multiples, vacuum deliveries, and VBACsCares for approximately 1800-2000 births per yearRN to patient ratios : L&D 1 : 2 labor, 1 : 1 delivery, 1 : 3 triage; Mother / Baby / Postpartum 1 : 4 coupletsRequired to circulate C-sections with OB tech support availableCerner is the charting system used; experience is required12-hour day shifts (6 : 30a–7 : 00p), every other weekend requiredFirst to float to Postpartum, float within Maternal Child unitsNo call required, but opportunity to pick up is availableScrub color : L&D – provided, Mother / Baby & PP – navyHoliday coverage rotates with core staffFloor-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptorResponsibilities include labor care, delivery, postpartum recovery, C-section circulation, and maternal / fetal monitoringOB and Neonatologist in-house 24 / 7, with anesthesia coverageOB techs support L&D and C-section casesPotential to work with telemetry monitoring for mothers, though not responsible for stripsBaby-friendly environment and multidisciplinary team support with LD RN, NICU RN, and RT attending C-sectionsNo dedicated IV team; respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24 / 7Staff may not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past yearFirst-time travelers will be considered\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery and Mother / Baby nursing experienceCurrent certifications required : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal MonitoringC-section circulation experience requiredExperience using Cerner EMR requiredTwo professional references : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsMust provide a valid driver’s license\n Benefits\n
