Job Description
An education network in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join one of their preschools as a School Nurse. In this role, the School Nurse will be responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention.
About the Opportunity :
- Schedule : Monday to Friday
- Hours : 8am to 3pm
- Patient Demographic : IDD population, Pediatrics
- Patient Volume : 4 to 5 students
Responsibilities :
Arrange medical services for persons served and issues medical referrals, as neededProvide follow-up on medical recommendations and prescriptions for persons servedConduct training for staff in personal hygiene, basic first aid, dental hygiene, infection control, adaptive equipment, vital signs, signs and symptoms of illness and other in-services as may be necessary to meet needs of persons servedHandle control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessmentMonitor required staff health records in accordance with regulatory agency requirementsProvide immediate first aid and referral to outside emergency services or Private PhysicianPrepare and maintain medical documentation on each person served as neededAdminister medications; supervise storage of medicationsPerform other related duties as requestedQualifications :
1+ year of Nursing experience in the delivery of Community-based health Services to individuals with Developmental DisabilitiesGraduate of an accredited School of NursingNYS Registered Nurse (RN) licenseKnowledge of equipment typically used by persons receiving services, including wheelchairs and adaptive devicesSolid assessment, clinical, and documentation skillsPatient orientedGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organizedDesired Skills :
Bachelor's Degree in NursingExperience in a School experienceG-TUBE experience
