Carpenter / Maintainer Job Summary :
As the Carpenter / Maintainer, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for performing all aspects of commercial carpentry, new construction, and renovation, with a basic knowledge in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanics, building structure, etc. and a thorough knowledge of accepted carpentry practices and standards. Coordinates several trades in order to complete a variety of projects on time and within budgetary constraints. Works with little supervision while following all health and safety standards.
Carpenter / Maintainer Essential Responsibilities :
Coordinates several trades to complete projects on time and within budgetary constraints. Coordinates and assists Facilities staff in day-to-day activities and projects.Performs construction of new walls, ceilings, structural steel, masonry, sheetrock installation, painting as well as renovations and layout of projects. To fully grasp requirements, utilizes blueprints, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and specifications that are provided by various architects / engineers, with written and / or verbal instructions.Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed. Is able to cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials according to measurements, build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items.Broadens the depth of knowledge of the department by training others and willingly sharing skills and knowledge.Has a general knowledge of Building and NFPA codes.Communicates appropriately with Facilities staff and other employees to ensure continuity of service. Responds in a calm, courteous, respectful manner, and takes immediate and proper action.Maintains proper work records.Represents DKH and Facilities Management appropriately in appearance and action at all times.Performs security responsibilities as assigned.Carpenter / Maintainer Education and Experience Requirements :
High school graduate or equivalent preferred with sufficient vocational apprentice and / or in-plant experience to equal 5 to 7 years of applied trades training.Healthcare experience preferred.Carpenter / Maintainer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Able to assist in moving and installing machinery, heavy furniture, dollies, rollers, and hand trucks.Moderate physical effort consisting of frequent (1 / 3 to 2 / 3) lifting or moving average (or= 80 lbs.) weight materials (1 / 3).To be fully mobile on steps and ladders.Work from a crouched or bent over position and have sufficient dexterity to safely operate power tools, valves, etc.Carpenter / Maintainer Environmental Conditions :
