Job Title : Lead CNC Programmer and Machinist
Job Description
We're seeking an experienced Lead CNC Programmer and Machinist to spearhead our manufacturing operations and accelerate hardware prototyping. You'll be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing a diverse range of manufacturing equipment while leading our transition from prototype to production-ready hardware.
Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC machines, mills, lathes, and drilling equipment for precision component manufacturing.
- Develop and optimize machining processes to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Create and maintain detailed work instructions, setup sheets, and quality standards.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex manufacturing challenges and equipment issues.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to rapidly iterate on hardware designs.
- Translate CAD drawings and technical specifications into manufacturable components.
- Support design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews and provide manufacturing feasibility input.
- Execute quick-turn prototyping projects to accelerate product development cycles.
- Maintain detailed documentation of prototype builds and lessons learned.
- Operate and maintain 3D printing systems for rapid prototyping and tooling applications.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measurement tools and equipment.
- Handle materials selection and procurement for manufacturing projects.
- Maintain, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on all manufacturing equipment.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment purchases to expand manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Train and mentor junior machinists and manufacturing technicians.
- Partner with R&D teams to understand design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Work with the supply chain to optimize material sourcing and vendor relationships.
- Support quality assurance with process validation and capability studies.
- Coordinate with project managers on manufacturing timelines and deliverables.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in CNC machining and CAD software.Extensive experience with machining, PCB, GD&T, metal fabrication, and plastics.Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.Experience with mills, lathes, drill press, and robotics.An Associate's degree in a related field.5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Work Environment
This is an onsite role within a manufacturing environment, involving heavy machinery. The work setting includes the use of cutting-edge technology in the field of geothermal energy. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, Florida.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88 / hr.
