Brunel is currently searching for a Lead I&C Engineer for a contract to direct position with our client. Location of role can be either Denver, Colorado OR Tucson, Arizona

We are seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our growing U.S. Southwest team, with opportunities based in Tucson or Denver. The successful candidate must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. (Nevada PE preferred).

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare control deliverables including Control Narratives, Cause-and-Effect diagrams, control system architecture, loop drawings, and plant site communication / IT requirements.
  • Provide I&C input to process P&IDs.
  • Develop instrument deliverables such as equipment lists, I / O lists, Instrument Index, Serial Interface lists, and cable lists.
  • Prepare instrumentation datasheets for ON / OFF valves, control valves, flowmeters, transmitters, densitometers, pressure safety valves, motor-operated valves, and hydraulic power units.
  • Perform instrument sizing calculations.
  • Prepare and review RFQs, approve vendor documentation, and conduct technical evaluations of supplier proposals.
  • Draft technical specifications for purchased equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to design teams.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.

About You :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the U.S. required; Nevada PE preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in I&C design, with a strong background in mining and mineral processing.
  • Experience with concentrator and POX projects considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation application, sizing, selection, installation, and operation.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and interpersonal) with the ability to lead and collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. TN visa can be considered.

    Position is offered on contract with the goal of direct hire within 6 months. During the contract period, you will be offered medical, dental, and vision benefits that start on your first day of employment. Once direct, you will be offered a full benefits program where basic coverage is 100% employer paid along with a generous 401K matching program. Based on years of experience, this role can offer compensation between $111,000-$179,000.
