Job Description
The Education Specialist is a non-exempt, hourly based position responsible for assisting with coordination and facilitation of professional development opportunities for members under the direction of the Education Coordinator and in accordance with the Association's policies and procedures.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Education Coordinator and in accordance with the Association's policies and procedures, the Education Specialist is a non-exempt, hourly based position responsible for assisting with coordination and facilitation of professional development opportunities for members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Demonstrates positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers.
- Communicates with Education Coordinator proactively and anticipates needs based on professional development course calendar, consistent with duties listed.
- Works with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator who prepares professional development materials to include flyers, banners for website, and classroom bulletin board, for in-house visibility of upcoming classes proof reading marketing collateral.
- Coordinates Class Monitor Program to include :
Identifying and listing classes requiring a monitor
Securing monitors well in advance of course offering; documenting in the association management system (AMS)Sending monitor an Outlook appointment to schedule their monitor commitment & registers the monitor in the association management system (AMS)Emailing reminder to monitor 2 days before course offering; secure confirmationFilling in as class monitor when necessaryCourse Reminder notifications :Sending email course reminder 2 days prior to course offering, using email template
Calling each registrant one day before each designation or certification course offeringDay of Course process :Assist in preparing classroom :
Course rosters, pens, text, evaluations, classroom procedure card placed
Refreshments readyCheck for cleanliness, empty trash as necessary (entire OSCAR facility)End of Course no-show process :Document class no-shows on roster
Update the association management system (AMS) with no-showsEmail no-shows to communicate reason for chargeFollow-up on no-show billing / collectionsHandles miscellaneous phone calls with members relative to education record, questions about status of designation achievement.Coordinates contact of CRP graduate, creates completion certificate, provides pin to graduate, and assures appropriate recognition is scheduled, with picture of graduate with Association CEO if possible. Applies to GRI graduate similarly and adds CRP class completions to master CRP log.Maintains designation and certification program in the association management system (AMS).As Professional Development calendar expands, additional course offerings will be scheduled in additional locations throughout the Osceola Community. This may require the Education Specialist to occasionally be entirely responsible for course set-up preparations (day of course preparations and end of course preparations) if the Education Coordinator is unavailable.Introduces instructor at classes as needed.Performs other duties as neededQualifications / Minimum Requirements
High school diploma, Bachelor's Degree in business or related preferredSix-months experience in a customer service-related position preferredPublic speaking experienceExceptional customer service and promotional skillsExcellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skillsAbility to build relationships with membersAbility to resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful mannerAbility to multi-task and learn quicklyKnowledge of standard office procedures and computer softwarePhysical Demands :
