GQR Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse Correctional for a travel nursing job in Houston, Texas.

Location : Houston, Texas

Employment Type : Contract – W2

Status : Pipeline

Assignment Overview :

  • Length : 13 weeks, with potential for continuous employment / extensions
  • Shift : Days
  • Hours per week : 36–48 (rotations not guaranteed; minimum 36 hours)
  • Orientation : Scheduled on weekends once cleared by credentialing and TDCJ
  • Scheduling : 4-week block booking by the 20th of each month; work week is Saturday–Friday

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct nursing care in a corrections environment
  • Float to different units within 10–30 minutes of assigned unit as needed; occasional mid-shift transfers possible
  • Maintain compliance with all facility policies and TDCJ requirements
  • Demonstrate independence, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment

    • Requirements :

  • Active Texas RN license or compact license
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience , with at least 1 year in acute care or med-surg
  • Experience in LTAC, ER, skilled nursing, or psychiatric settings is a plus
  • Certifications : BLS required
  • Successful candidates are independent, thick-skinned, and able to work in a fast-paced environment without participating in internal conflicts or gossip

    • Application / Submission Requirements :

  • Complete TDCJ clearance forms and universal submittal packet prior to submission
  • Clinical screen required prior to submission
  • TDCJ forms submitted by Account Manager on Tuesdays and Thursdays

    • Additional Information :

  • Eligibility for overtime based on performance (call-ins, punctuality, and attendance)
  • Refusal to float / divert may result in DNR status
  • Travel compensation and lodging available for out-of-town assignments
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (exemptions accepted)
