Job Overview

We are seeking a Junior BI Developer to join our Data, Analytics and Visualization team in Lansing, MI. This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of permanent placement.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Tableau and Power BI, as well as a strong understanding of data visualization, data modeling, and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop interactive and visually appealing Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate those needs into technical requirements
  • Offer the best-fit alternative solution when appropriate
  • Create complex calculations, measures, and calculated fields in Tableau and Power BI
  • Develop and maintain data sources in Tableau Prep and Power BI Data Flows
  • Collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to ensure data is structured and organized for efficient reporting and analysis
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing reports and dashboards
  • Stay current with Tableau and Power BI best practices and recommend process improvements
  • Train and support end-users on how to use Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, data analytics, or other IT-related fields, or Associate's degree in IT-related field with 2+ years of experience
  • Tableau proficiency, including creating dashboards, visualizations, and reports
  • Data visualization skills, with the ability to create effective and engaging data visualizations
  • Data modeling and analysis skills, with the ability to design and implement data models and perform data analysis using SQL or other tools
  • ETL experience, with knowledge of ETL processes and tools to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into a data warehouse
  • Business acumen, with the ability to understand and analyze business requirements and translate them into actionable insights using Tableau and other BI tools
  • Communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to ensure accuracy and completeness in data modeling, data analysis, and data visualizations
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues and find creative solutions
  • Teamwork, with the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the development team and stakeholders across the organization
  • Continuous learning, with a willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest Tableau and BI trends, tools, and technologies
