University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 100% Nurse Clinician to work for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center with Urology Surgery.

The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is Iowa's only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center and has held that designation since 2000. We also hold accreditations with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and the Commission on Cancer (COC).

We accomplish this in a multidisciplinary approach where our nursing staff are valued members of the team.
Summary :
- Functions as a clinical expert and care coordinator for a specific patient population interfacing with administrative, clinical nursing staff, physicians and patients / families.
Position Responsibilities :
Collaborates with nursing, medical staff and other health professionals in the development and review of standards and in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care for a specific patient population with regard to the condition and age of the patient. Provides direct nursing care when necessary. Follows universal precautionsIndependently coordinates and facilitates patient care between multiple disciplines within both the confines of UIHC and the local communities (including home health agencies, referring physicians and other community support services). Facilitates continuity of careCoordinates patient care to better utilize supportive services through patient visit and possible admission, pre-schedules testing, follows up with test results to both patient and physician, obtains medical history, coordinates follow up visit appointment, provides medication, rehab. teaching, etc. Participate in the ongoing management of the patient to facilitate discharge of patient in a timely mannerInteracts with staff, patients, medical staff, peers, and others in a professional and cooperative mannerAssumes responsibility for maintaining clinical expertise consistent with patient population requirements and current nursing and medical practiceDevelops management and consultant skills consistent with position responsibilitiesAdheres to professional and legal standards of nursing practiceMaintains confidentiality of patient and staff informationPromotes a positive work environmentDemonstrates the core values of service leadership : respect, communication, accountability, integrity, and compassionRemains calm and constructive in conflict situations, listens and attempts to understand other points of viewAnalyzes own performance in accordance with position expectations, develops goals and implements a plan to meet goalsIs self-directed in using timePercent of time : 100%
Schedule : Monday-Friday 0800-1630. Two late shifts every four weeks. No nights, holidays, or weekends.
Salary : $ 64,242 minimum at 100% effort to commensurate. Salary will be based on years of experience and percent effort.

Required Qualifications :
A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is requiredCurrent license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hireDemonstrated experience in patient education is requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredDemonstrated excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem solving skills are requiredDemonstrated expertise with adult patient / family discharge planning process is requiredExperience working with an interdisciplinary team is requiredMust be able to work well in a team is a valuable skillDesired Qualifications :
