About The Position

Job Title : Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist

Profession : Clinical Professional

Specialty : Cardiac Ultrasound

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Monday - Friday

Hours per Shift : 7 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM

Experience : Minimum of six months related experience

License : Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Certifications : BLS

Must-Have :

• Ability to work independently
• Ability to utilize critical thinking skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with surgeons, physicians, and other healthcare staff regarding Cardiac Ultrasound results
• Ability to serve in on-call rotation after regular business hours

Description :

Responsible for diagnostic cardiac or vascular ultrasound.

Provides cardiologists with measurements and accurate images of cardiac structures for diagnosis.

Provides immediate feedback with preliminary reports of critical results to nursing staff and physicians.

Assists physicians with studies and complex procedures.

Decreases potential associated procedural risks in various settings including operating rooms and catheter labs.

Demonstrates correct technique, efficiency, and judgment in the performance of advanced cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.

Performs adult and / or pediatric cardiac ultrasound procedures including transesophageal echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms.

Reviews pertinent patient data and reports prior to procedures.

Operates equipment necessary to perform required procedures and obtain optimal diagnostic recordings.

Utilizes ancillary devices effectively.

Notifies the reading physician of abnormal results and evaluates findings.

Maintains proper documentation according to policy.

Documents all procedures accurately in departmental tracking processes.

Efficiently processes charging and necessary data.

Collaborates in the maintenance of departmental efficiency.

Anticipates needs in equipment and supplies.

Uses resources wisely to assist in cost containment.

Schedules patients efficiently.

Supports departmental goals through quality assurance and educational activities.

Maintains current competency and registry in the two specialty practices.

Demonstrates initiative in personal and professional development.

Maintains compliance with mandatory education standards.

Participates in departmental quality assurance processes and national accreditation processes.

Modifies behavior and performance to meet changing departmental goals.

Complies with departmental and hospital policies.

Maintains a clean environment.

Practices infection control.
