Customer Service Representative - Commercial Insurance

This position is responsible for managing insurance certificate requests, quoting and binding business for certain specific risks, online payment processing, utilizing the agency management system (Nexsure) for all client and policy input, including attachments, deliveries, and activities within the system; provide daily assistance to commercial and personal lines marketing specialists. Requires aptitude for computer systems, MS Office, basic accounting skills, and strong knowledge in commercial lines, excess and surplus lines, as well as an understanding of insurance agency practices. Policy Management. Will be handling both new business and renewals in conjunction with the broker placement team member.

Primary Duties & Skill Set Needed :

  • Property & Casualty license required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of brokering support experience with proven successful experience working effectively with agents / brokers
  • Ability to work in a highly automated, paperless environment, including specialized software packages
  • Ability to understand and communicate both orally and in written correspondence (i.e., emails, letters, etc.), and interpret abstract information
  • Accountable for maintaining confidential information
  • Knowledge of insurance markets and insurance rating procedures
  • Strong MS Office skills with an emphasis in Excel spreadsheets
  • High level of initiative, highly organized, excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize important and pressing tasks
  • Must be able to understand and analyze necessary components of insurance policies
  • Ability to make independent decisions per IAS guidelines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary, during peak times
  • Multi-Tasking in a high paced environment with high volume and high stress with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to perform other activities as assigned in a team environment
  • Insurance experience with excess and surplus lines
  • Experience with issuance of Certificates of Insurance
