Must-Have : Must pass a skills exam during orientation

Description :

RN candidates must pass a written skills exam.

This is an open-book exam on skills learned during orientation.

Candidates will be provided with all necessary resources to successfully pass the exam.

A score of 90% or higher is required to pass; failure to meet this will result in termination.

Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.

Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract.

Candidates may not be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated within the past year.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license, as this will be used for distance verification.

The department is focused on stepdown care for patients recovering from serious health issues.

The unit comprises 22 beds, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4.

Common diagnoses include heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke.

RNs are required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.

A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment.

Patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1 : 10.

RNs will interact with various respiratory equipment, primarily for troubleshooting CPAP.

RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips independently.

Shifts are scheduled cyclically, with weekend requirements every other weekend.

Holidays require working one major and one minor holiday.

RNs may float to ICU if they have appropriate experience.

Unit-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shift.

The work environment is fast-paced with many admits and discharges.

Successful candidates possess a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and a patient-oriented focus.

All time-off requests should be submitted upfront, as additional requests will not be approved.

The charting system utilized is EPIC.
